ESSENTIAL
HYPERTENSION : -
The only thing essential about this problem is that nobody knows
why it is there. The doctor proclaims his verdict condemning the
patient to a lifetime of drug therapy or in other words "till
death makes them apart". Again nobody realises that this is a
disorder not a disease and as such needs management and not treatment.
Our blood pressure is directly related to our breathing. If the
breathing is deep and abdominal the pressure remains "normal",
which again is misleading term as there are variations in normal.
Some people register very low blood pressures which is "normal"
for them. Anybody who remains disturbed emotionally changes his
breathing pattern from abdominal to thoracic and slowly the blood
pressure starts rising. Anybody who gets a fit of anger registers
a very high blood pressure for that period of time. If however
the attitude of a person is irritable towards life and times the
blood pressure continues to rise till it shows some side effects.
A person with essential hypertension or high blood pressure must
do the following things first. He must correct his breathing by
practising abdominal breathing thirty minutes at a stretch four
times a day. Then he must do "stop meditation". It is repeatedly
becoming aware of one s breathing doing whatever activity throughout
the day. He must practise eating meditation, which means becoming
aware of what he is eating by not swallowing the morsel of food
till all the taste and flavour disappears in mouth. He must eat
only fruits, vegetables and salads at night. He must do any exercise
with nasal and abdominal breathing for at least an hour. The blood
pressure is usually back to normal in a weeks time if the person
is not extremely obese. However the drawback of this line of management
from "Consumer Medicine" point of view is that the patient becomes
independent of the doctor, he or she stops consuming drugs almost
immediately, he or she does not undergo complications which further
generate "business" in short they stop being consumers of various
support systems developed by modern medicine to "help" them come
back to the mirage of normalcy, which they never, it being a mirage.
