THE BEAUTY OF INEQUALITY

THE BEAUTY OF INEQUALITY: -

We are told ad nauseum that human beings are created equal. This is a patent lie. We are not equals. If at all we are equal we are equal before death but we are absolutely unequal in life. This in fact is the most beautiful thing in life.

No two humans look alike save the uniovular twins. No two humans think alike. Why may I say no two humans are similar in their humanity. Fate of two human beings is different. This fact of inequality creates the lasting beauty of our life.

I play flute and Pt.Caurasiya also plays flute. The difference in quality is so vast that I can not only enjoy his flute but gape at this difference in pure wonder. If everybody played flute equally well then where is the enjoyment?

Somebody is taller, better looking, richer, more intelligent, more lucky, more versatile, more popular and better than me in so many different ways and ahead of me in so many different ways and directions that I have a great opportunity to explore life in all its possibilities.

If I am told that we are equal then when I see around the inequality I get envious thinking that all those people who are better than me are better because they have used unfair means to be there wherever they are. This leads to a great loss of energy which is always at a premium. Instead of being happy with the situation I become unhappy for the entire duration of my life. Worse people try to plot the downfall of people better than them instead of enjoying their success.

We are simply different. Even without choosing comparative adjectives like better or worse we are not same. We are not even similar. We are just delightfully different. This difference makes life worth living.

If everybody looked same, behaved same, had same level of skills in whatever they did life would be living hell and people will spontaneously commit suicide as all of them will be bored equally badly. There will be no aspirations in life.

In rich societies this is the predominant danger of life. In rich societies gradually everybody apparently starts becoming equal to each other. Young people are already so high in their social levels that if they strive the change is little and if they strive extremely hard the change is disproportionately small to their efforts. This makes life boring.

If these young people spend time with less fortunate poor people they feel a healing force entering their life. Their boredom goes away. Life suddenly has some purpose. However if poor and less fortunate people accept this help beyond a certain limit then they loose the purpose of their life and tend to be lazy. Crutches are to be used till the fractured bone mends and not a day more.

It is inequality which helps somebody learn and somebody earn as well. Its inequality, that gives us the joy in spending money. Its inequality which makes us enjoy all entertainment shows, all different games, concerts etc. Inequality defines our position in life. Everybody’s position is in different planes.
